The Razer Basilisk V3 is the newer, wired iteration of the Basilisk lineup, while the Razer Basilisk X Hyperspeed is the older, wireless iteration. The Basilisk V3 is a wired-only model that is lighter and has better quality mouse feet. It also has five extra buttons, including an extra side button, and has RGB lighting, which the Basilisk X Hyperspeed lacks. In terms of performance, it has the highest maximum CPI, the lowest lift distance and the lowest click latency. It also has a scroll wheel with L/R tilt buttons and a free scroll mode. The Basilisk X Hyperspeed, on the other hand, connects wirelessly to its USB receiver or via Bluetooth.
The Razer Basilisk X Hyperspeed is a wireless-only mouse that can be used via Bluetooth or a built-in USB receiver. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a built-in rechargeable battery and uses a single AA battery. Razer claims a single AA battery will last 450 hours over Bluetooth, or 285 hours when using the USB receiver, although we’re not currently testing that.
The Razer Basilisk X Hyperspeed has six buttons, all of which are programmable, including scrolling up and down on the mouse wheel. You can also assign a HyperShift key to give it a second layer of programmable keys.
You can program all the buttons on the Razer Basilisk V3, including the scroll wheel up/down input and the profile switch button on the bottom of the mouse. However, the software requires that the left-click button is always assigned to a button. You can assign a HyperShift key that acts like a keyboard Shift key, allowing for a secondary layer of programmable inputs. The furthest forward side button acts as a sniper button by default and switches to a lower CPI while you hold it to aim more accurately. In previous versions of Basilisk this button was removable, but it is static in this version. The Razer Basilisk V3 has excellent mouse feet. They glide smoothly on desks and mouse pads and are a slight improvement over the Razer Basilisk V2’s feet.
